Weekend Outing
Students can participate in our weekend outing program, which will be scheduled as per their timing and interests. This program includes the following events:
Weekend Hiking
We organize weekend hiking for students. Some spots would be Khokana, Shivapuri, and areas with great cultural backgrounds. The 2015 earthquake demolished some of the regions, so there may be structural damage in some areas. During the visit, you would explore visual representations of different cultural aspects and traditional methods of living in rural parts of Nepal. Similarly, you will see how cattle are respected and treated as essential to conventional households. People in rural areas like to be self-sufficient for their daily livelihood. They also cultivate different vegetables in their area, besides their traditional method and self-cultivation, by generating irrigation.
These are our major places for hiking areas:
Kirtipur: Kirtipur is an ancient city in Nepal. It is located in the Kathmandu Valley, 5 km south-west of Kathmandu.
Originally a Newar foundation, Kirtipur is still a centre of Newar culture. It consists of many temples, gumbas (Buddhist monasteries). Due to the presence of Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur is also a popular area for out-of-town students and professors to rent houses and are major contributors to the local economy.
Khokana/bungamati: Khokana is a traditional and tiny Newari village about eight kilometres south of Kathmandu (on the outskirts of Patan). It has its own history and has retained its tradition and culture. It is a living museum and recalls medieval times. The farming community of Newars who live here is mostly dependent on agriculture, and much of their daily activities take place outside of their dwellings.
Women sit outside spinning, men crush seeds, and other daily activities occur. The village is famous for its unusual mustard-oil harvesting process, in which a heavy wooden beam is used to crush the mustard seeds to extract the oil. It is believed that a shared system was used in the past here. This oil can be consumed if desired, but it can also be used for therapeutic massage.
Shivapuri National Park: Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is the ninth national park in Nepal and was established in 2002. It is located in the country’s mid-hills on the northern fringe of the Kathmandu Valley and named after Shivapuri Peak, 2,732 m (8,963 ft) altitude. It covers an area of 159 km2 (61 sq mi) in Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk, adjoining 23 Village Development Committees. In the west, the protected area extends to the Dhading District.
Bhaktapur: Bhaktapur has the best-preserved palace courtyards and old city centre in Nepal and is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its rich culture, temples, and wood, metal, and stone artworks. The restoration and preservation efforts of the German-funded Bhaktapur Development Project (BDP) support this.
The city is famous for a special type of curd called “Ju Ju(king) dhau(curd). The curd makers have experienced that the taste of curd prepared in this location cannot be found elsewhere in Nepal.
White Monastery: White Monastery is called “Seto Gumba” in Nepali. It is located on a northwest little hill near Swoyambhunath stupa in Kathmandu. There are several spots to see Kathmandu Valley with glorious looks. Among them, White Monastery is one of the best places to observe beautiful Kathmandu city with stunning mountain views that are in your favour. White Monastery’s elevation is approximately 1450 meters above sea level. Around White Monastery, hygienic restaurant facilities with breathtaking atmospheres are available. It is around several hills which look like linking each othe.r
