At the time when earthquake occurred I was with my friend in a restaurant at Durbar Marg ordering some foods. At the time when earthquake occurred, I became completely numb and didn’t know what was happening. Meanwhile everything began to shake. Then we went to Thamel and saw people crying and then one guy told me that there was no durbar square. I cried so much and it was a completely strange day.

First question that came to my mind was that why were the people crying. I remembered about Bhaktapur because I had been there three days back and since Bhaktapur was too old, I was worried about the people.

The building that I was standing next to was bent and about to collapse. A lot of people were crying and calling their families. It made me anxious as I had never seen this before and it was really bad.

I just stood there with the Nepali people in the middle of the King’s way (Durbar Marg). I read the faces of all the people and right then, I was determined to be doing some relief efforts in case it is necessary. After 3-4 days of earthquake we went for a relief support and helped people out there.

I felt really bad after hearing the news that led to death of so many people and injured too. I have been living in Nepal since February and have met a lot of people. I was aware that the government of Nepal is not efficient and was afraid that sufficient help wouldn’t reach the needy ones.

I didn’t even think of going back home. My dad called me that evening and said that the government was providing free ticket to come back, but I said no. I thought maybe I could be of some use here. I didn’t feel unsafe because the house of Internship Nepal was safe for everyone.

I believed that staying in Nepal would be helpful in some ways. Tourism is important in Nepal. Staying here and doing something for them is a great opportunity for me so I started fund raising program, buying some foods and stuffs for victims. On top of that, the country is in every ways safe for anyone to stay and live in.

Among the rest, all everyone needs to do is to be strong and not lose hope because Nepal will rise again. You need to be united and stay together.

Yes humanity is most important in this situation. Now people should be united and help each other. Supporting your own Nepali brothers and sisters by providing some relief would be great. Also, I suggest people to promote tourism and prove that Nepal is as beautiful and safe for people to travel.

Yes, though it will take time, Nepal will fight back. It is a huge disaster but it will take time to rebuild it. Nepal has resources we cannot find in other countries. This crisis will soon be over.
