A Wonderful Christmas

Christmas, a day when even the almighty above leaves back all his omnipotence and divination above and transcends down to earth just to witness the magical beauty of Earth. It’s a day when all your wishes are believed to be fulfilled, but moreover, it’s a day we get some more responsibilities from Santa in the form of love and presents. A major motif of Christmas is love, which is to be cherished throughout the life. It’s an indescribable gift, and the most amazing thing is that we not only get those gifts, but share it with everyone. We, the people of Internship Nepal could in no way stay untouched by the gleam of Christmas everywhere.

Streets were lightened, shops all decorated, hotels had their demands raised high with all rooms booked. The town looked like a newlywed bride. On top of that, major attraction of the city was at night. People could be seen getting together and hanging out for a walk, almost everywhere. This all had started actually a week ahead. There were no any government or private offices running because the day was considered as a national holiday, Nepal being a secular country.

The great Christmas knocked on our doors finally, and we all went out for a good long walk in the chilly morning. It was a great weather nevertheless, and everybody was excited for the day. We explored different parts of the city, came back home for lunch. Our house was well decorated by interns, with chocolates and presents all around. We all had some of them, and got to have our presents for the day. We also realized the fact that unlike Dashain, even though it isn’t celebrated for a whole long month, Christmas does have an equal and correspondent importance; after all it’s a festival and comes once a year. Churches in town were all packed up and crowded, chants all around, and we saw Christmas trees standing with their heads high. It was their day and for us a great sight.

All day long we enjoyed lunch and sat singing, playing around in the house. Then, at evening we sat down and made fire. One of our interns was very good at guitar, so he played nice songs for everyone. We couldn’t help dancing. Then, everyone was engaged in making barbecue for dinner. The cake was ready and meal was made. Time for dinner, and we sat down in traditional Nepali style, and had our meal. A day to be remembered, and for most of us, the best Christmas ever. More fun and much aspiration left, we expect beautiful days like these to come very often. A Merry Christmas indeed!
